Allen Berg to Speak at ADAS & Autonomous Vehicle Technology Expo
Former Formula 1 Driver and Allen Berg Racing Schools Founder To Discuss On-Road Testing of Autonomous Vehicles
Escondido, CA (July 12, 2022) – On September 7 & 8, in San Jose, California, the world’s leading experts in the fields of autonomous vehicle research, AI, software, sensor fusion, AV testing, validation, development, standards, and safety will gather for the 2022 ADAS & Autonomous Vehicle Technology Expo. Among the 80+ speakers who will be discussing the latest developments in the world of next-gen ADAS and Autonomous Vehicle Technology will be the founder of Allen Berg Racing Schools, and former Formula 1 driver, Allen Berg.
“I’m excited to join the esteemed speaker lineup for this year’s Expo”, enthused Berg. “We have been providing expertise to the major technology companies and OEMs in the ADAS, autonomous, and driverless space for more than five years now.”
Berg, who will speak on Day 1 of the conference, will discuss how Allen Berg Specialized – Autonomous/Driverless Training Systems (ABS) has trained thousands of drivers under contract to holders of DMV-issued AV Testing Permits. These training programs operate in customer-supplied test vehicles, at secure testing facilities and skidpads across the country, and in all seasons and road conditions.
“In the process of operating a successful formula car racing school for more than 15 years, we have gathered an incredible database of driver behavior.” continued Berg. “Our deep knowledge of vehicle dynamics is combined with our training environment, which is basically un-experienced drivers on a race track for the first time, who have vastly different skill levels, and who are implementing extreme, exaggerated driver inputs, much quicker applications of throttle and brakes, much quicker steering inputs, a requirement for heightened awareness and eyes much further ahead on the road. When you combine all of these learnings, Allen Berg Specialized is well positioned to assist in the R+D for OEMs, plus Tier 1, 2 and 3 suppliers as ADAS, electrification and additional exciting technologies evolve.”
During the evaluation process, ABS uses a color-coded, numeric grading system, which scores participants’ performance as well as provides brief summaries, following the completion of up to nine skill-based exercises which determine the competence of each participant.
